Magnesium Die Casting
What Is Magnesium Alloy Die Casting
Magnesium alloy die casting is a process that uses magnesium alloy as raw material, and infuses the molten magnesium alloy into the mold under high pressure and high temperature conditions, and then cools and solidifies. Similar to aluminum alloy die casting, magnesium alloy die casting is used to make parts of various shapes, but magnesium alloy is suitable for applications requiring lightweight due to its lighter density and excellent mechanical properties.
Basic Process of Magnesium Alloy Die Casting
Material Choice
Magnesium alloys are lighter than aluminum alloys, but their melting point is lower, and the melting process requires more precise temperature control.
Anti-Oxidation Treatment
Magnesium alloys are susceptible to oxidation, so special atmosphere control is required before melting, such as the use of a protective atmosphere or vacuum environment.
Cooling Speed
Due to the high thermal conductivity of magnesium alloy, its solidification speed is fast, and an accurate cooling system is needed to control the solidification process.
Mold Design
Because the shrinkage rate and thermal expansion coefficient of magnesium alloy are different from that of aluminum alloy, the mold design needs to consider the characteristics of magnesium alloy to ensure the accuracy of the finished size.
Advantages of Magnesium Alloy Die Casting
01 Lightweight
Magnesium alloys have a lighter density and are suitable for manufacturing parts that require weight reduction, such as automotive parts and aerospace parts.
02 Excellent Mechanical Properties
Magnesium alloy has good strength and stiffness, which can meet the performance requirements of a variety of applications.
03 High Thermal Conductivity
Magnesium alloy has a high thermal conductivity, which contributes to rapid cooling and solidification and improves production efficiency.
04 Good Corrosion Resistance
Magnesium alloy has good corrosion resistance and is suitable for applications in outdoor and chemical environments.
05 Design Flexibility
Various shapes and structures can be realized through mold design, which is suitable for different application fields.
We can turn your designs and ideas into real parts in just a few days.
Application Industry of Magnesium Alloy Die Casting
